Before installation

Substrate preparation guide.

The finish is only as good as what's underneath. This reference guide explains how surfaces should be evaluated and prepared before any Topcret system is installed.

Reference document. Substrate evaluation and preparation are the sole responsibility of the installer or contractor.

MoistureSubstrate must be dry (≤ 15%). A vapor barrier is not part of the Topcret system. On ground-floor applications (interior and exterior, any substrate), balconies, terraces, rooftops, and walls or ceilings in contact with soil, installing one is the decision of the client or installer. Where rising moisture or vapor pressure is present and no barrier is installed, the system may suffer loss of adhesion, bubbling or cracking — outcomes outside Topcret USA's warranty.
CleanlinessFree of dust, grease, sealers, paint and any residue that affects adhesion.
LevelingThe system follows the substrate — it doesn't level it. All leveling and drainage slopes must be corrected first.
Wet areasMicrocement is not waterproofing. Showers and exterior walls need an approved, rigid waterproofing membrane.
StabilityNever installed over flexible substrates. Concrete should be sound and fully cured (about 28 days).

Residential

Renovate without the demolition.

Thin layers go directly over most existing surfaces, so there's no tear-out and no new floor height to design around.

Commercial
